The sexy, zany adventures of the Muffia Book Club continue as celebrity talent agent and Muffia member, Quinn Cunningham, returns from Japan where she spotted her fellow Muff’s former Israeli lover who is supposed to be dead. Back in LA, the Muffs agree sexy “Udi” is alive but proving it might get them killed. Quinn’s resolutions to become a better person—dump the married paramour, find a guy online and resume pole dancing (for exercise, please!)–hits a snag when her boss confronts her with compromising photos. Now Quinn must find the saboteur, assisted by former Seal Team member and by-the-book private investigator, Frank Sexton. While other Muffs catch up on the latest book club selection, shut down porn-shooting neighbors and plan a swanky benefit for Alzheimer’s disease, Quinn finds herself falling for Frank. And as the eve of the benefit arrives, she’s keeping those resolutions and former lovers who are supposed to be dead, pole dancing, online dating, Seal Team sabotage solvers and shutting down porn-shooting neighbors; all while reading and talking about books in the city of Angels and looking, and in some cases finding, love.

"More Muffia" is the second book in a series about "The Muffia" - which is a women's book club in L.A -- and is also the title of the first book, which I haven't yet read. Honestly, it's a romp through contemporary Los Angeles, which I enjoyed tremendously since I live there, and always like it when locales match actual places I've been. This episode in Muffia follows member Quinn Cunningham, who is unlucky in love and in her job as a person who books movie stars on foreign commercials (think the raison d'etre for "Lost in Translation" - why the Bill Murray character was in Tokyo to begin with). Something happens at the outset which propels Quinn on an adventure -- mixing parts sexy as well as mysterious in a quest to both save this great job and perhaps find some love in the process. All the while, there is the great backup of true friendships among the "Muffs" - the members of the book club, a group of women who have each others' backs, and arguably, are stronger connections than they may have with their own spouses. There's a lot of fun here, and it's breezy - I honestly read most of the short chapters on a subway commute in - you got it, Los Angeles. Who knew there was such a thing? Though this may be correctly classified as "Chick Lit" - as a middle aged gay man I could totally identify with Quinn and her struggles. The author taps into those universalities we all share - the desire for truth, justice and love in our lives - as well as the curiosity to get to the bottom of a damn good riddle. Highly recommended - and looking forward to the further adventures of "The Muffia!"

By Lita Barrie I usually prefer literary fiction and non fiction on art and women's issues but someone told me I might like this book because I am a single woman in Los Angeles who likes to read, drink good wine occasionally and have fun - all of which the characters in Muffin fo in spades. I did really enjoy the book. I also felt as though I knew many of the women in this anonymous book club. They are bright, talented and often find themselves in hilarious situations. It is a fun, breezy read.

It is sexy, very well-written, and the sense of humor of the author is undeniable. The characters are fun, witty, and smart, and they find themselves enmeshed in one zany adventure after another. Their strong bond is infectious, as they are all members of the same book club. I highly recommend this book and hope that there will be another one forthcoming.

This is an excellent guide book By Stormy Joe This is an excellent guide book, from the writer who served CNY outdoorsmen and women for many years as the Syracuse Post Standard's outdoor columnist. He also sold articles to Outdoor Life and Field and Stream magazines. Along with the analysis of particular streams, the book offers entertaining anecdotes, opinion, and good old-fashioned how-to. It's well worth the price. Kelly is a true conservationist who fishes and hunts with solid ethics, respect for nature, and an understanding of true conservation.

About the Author

Hannah Fielding was born and grew up in Alexandria, Egypt,  the granddaughter of Esther Fanous, a revolutionary feminist and writer in Egypt during the early 1900s.  Upon graduating with a BA in French literature from Alexandria University she travelled extensively throughout Europe and lived in Switzerland, France and England. After marrying her English husband, she settled in Kent and subsequently had little time for writing while bringing up two children, looking after dogs and horses, and running her own business renovating rundown cottages.  Hannah now divides her time between her homes in Kent and the South of France. She has written four novels, Indiscretion and Masquerade (the first two titles in the Andalucían Nights Trilogy), Burning Embers, and The Echoes of Love, which won the Gold Medal for Romance at the 2014 Independent Publisher Book Awards and the Silver Medal for Romance at the 2014 Foreword Reviews IndieFab Book Awards. Hannah is currently working on her new book, Legacy, the final title in the trilogy, which is due to be published in Spring 2016.

By MaureenB ‘The Echoes of Love’ is the story of Venetia Aston-Montagu, an twenty eight year old English woman living in the romantic city of Venice. Although this sounds like a fairy tale, Venetia wasn’t looking for love. She loves Venice and the beautiful history of the city, but since her first love broke her heart almost ten years ago, Venetia wasn’t a fan of men and romance. But one night, she meets Paolo Barone a handsome thirty eight year old with a reputation of being a Don Juan. Everything about Paolo makes Venetia want to run and hide. But Paolo doesn’t give up fast and soon Venetia find herself being under his spell. But there are a lot of secrets between them and since life hasn’t been easy on both of them they most conquer a lot to be with each other.‘The Echoes of Love’ is unlike any other book I read. Hannah Fielding’s writing is like reading poetry. Her writing is very detailed and almost feels like your reading a book written in the Jane Austen era, although it takes place in the present. The way Hannah Fielding writes makes you able to almost ‘feel’ Venice, and the beautiful canals and bridges. I loved the way Hannah described Venice and Italy throughout this book. It definitely made me want to visit Italy and the beautiful towns. Not only does Hannah describe the beautiful city but she also, very thoroughly, describes the Italian food. And boy did she make me hungry for Italian food. The story of Venetia and Paolo was very beautiful. I loved reading about them and the way Paolo tried to woo Venetia. At times I found Venetia a little irritating because she just kept resisting and denying her own feelings. Of course I understood why she acted that way, I just wanted to tell her to stop being so difficult at times! (LOL)This book was a beautiful love story. There is also a little mystery in this book and there are a lot of secrets. The one thing I found a little disappointing about this book was that I figured out early on what was going on. It made the revelation at the end of the book not as exciting as it was supposed to be.But still, this book was an beautiful and very interesting read and I would definitely recommend it. Hannah Fielding’s writing is explicit and I can’t wait to read more from her. And a nice bonus, this book makes you learn a little Italian! ;)

By Anissa Massad It was the striking cover and the romance of the title that prompted me to choose The Echoes of Love among so many novels that are offered today. The writing lifts the book out of the usual romance genre. I was captivated from the first lines by the world Ms Fielding created. Without leaving your chair you are transported to Italy . Though I have visited Venice and Florence in Tuscany , I have never been to Sardinia, but all through my reading the author’s beautiful detailed description made me feel I was just there with Paolo and Venetia , living their passionate love story. Neither the hero nor the heroine are simplistic characters, both have a past that tortures them, but both learn how to confront them, first alone, and then together. All in all a beautifully crafted book, the echoes of which will remain with you for a long time.

If you can’t admire the beauty of courtship By Shree Janani Find the review @ http://readmuse.blogspot.in/2014/10/the-echoes-of-love-by-hannah-fielding.htmlThe first line of the summary was just about enough for me to fall for the book. I admit! I am shamelessly attracted to anything Italian – be it the culture or the food. Watching too much of TLC channel left me bewitched and besotted with Italian city so much so that visiting Italy at least once in this life time has become top in my “things to do before I die” list. Also, having worked with Italians professionally, I quite enjoy their culture.I had set obnoxiously high standards for this book just because the story was set in Italy. But when the book landed on my door step I did chastise myself for being a hopeless “Italian Romantic”. I almost dreaded that I would come to regret my decision of picking up this book for the book was quite heavy to begin with. It has been ages since I read 400 odd pages paperback copy. Books these days are no longer than 350 pages. But when I finished reading the book I was truly happy for not missing such a beautiful book.To start with, the book cover was beautiful. The eye mask and the title of the book is glossily embossed in black against a beautiful cream background thus giving it a rich texture. Our protagonist, Venetia is a restoration specialist with a traumatic past. The love of her life “left” her and she lost their love child in a freak accident. She escapes from the clutches of her traumatic past and her strict father by moving to Venice to work for her godmother in her architect firm. For some odd reason, Zia (the god mother) reminds me of Meryl Streep from the movie The Devil Wears a Prada. Venetia falls in love with Paolo, the handsome Italian who again has his own share of traumatic past. So do they actually find each other? Obviously yes, they do. But what matters is the narration of the “how”.The narration was bang on. Italy was described so beautifully that with pages that I turned, my desperation to visit that country increased exponentially. To make matters worse the story was written so beautifully. The beauty of courtship narrated against a back drop of a romantic city is indeed an intoxicating combination. Being a late (like horribly late) bloomer in discovering Love & Romance Literature, this story ended up leaving me with a fluttering heart and a flipping stomach! The characterisation was perfect and realistic. Due to this, the emotions that the writer tried to convey were eerily realistic. I felt like I was living in the middle of the story. Till date only one book(or a series maybe….) had managed to do that to me. No prizes for guessing which book.My only weeny tiny qualm though would be that there was a bit of drag in story – The book would have been better off without that “evil witch girl” in play. And of course, the climax was predictable, though I can’t really put my finger on why I was able to predict it in spites of a gripping tale with very minimal loophole in the plot.To sum it up, this story is akin to the perfect coffee served in a traditional fashion. Such books are hard to come by in the age of Vending machine quality quicke romance (er….may be like the slurry liquid that my work place’s vending machine serves me in the name of coffee?!)VERDICT: This book is strictly for people who love to read literature and beautiful romances. If you can’t admire the beauty of courtship and true romance don’t dare touch this book.RATING: 4.9 on 5

"Called On may be this generation's One L..." - Tony Mauro, The National Law Journal • Libby Behl and Connie Shun are both at Warren Law because they want to make the world better. First-year student Libby's got a lot to learn about law - not to mention love, long nights, and low-grade coffee. Through a difficult year, her professor Connie starts to question what she knows about how law - and justice - work. Witty and insightful, Called On is an insider's peek into the struggles of learning law and the satisfaction of finding a new path in life. • "McElroy perfectly captures the pressures, challenges, and triumphs of both teaching and studying the law. Filled with big, memorable personalities, Called On is an utterly charming depiction of the 1L experience." - Alafair Burke, author, The Ex • "In Called On, McElroy deftly chronicles the stories of law professor Connie Shun and first year law student Libby Behl, each of whom is trying to move past tragedy and forge a new path for herself. The intersection of their lives is both humorous and heartbreaking. In this thoughtful and thought-provoking commentary on life, love, and the law, McElroy demonstrates the rare gift to simultaneously entertain, educate, uplift, and inspire." - Pam Jenoff, author, The Kommandant's Girl • "Lisa McElroy nails law school - from first-day jitters to gunners and back-benchers - in a funny, perceptive, and poignant (but never predictable) first novel. Grab a Diet Coke and a handful of M&Ms and settle in; once you start reading, you won't want to stop." - Amy Howe, co-founder and editor, SCOTUSblog • "This remarkable book showcases all the traits that make McElroy such an amazing teacher: a deep understanding of legal issues, a superb ability to connect them to the real world, and a wry, compassionate understanding of her fellow humans in all their flawed splendor. Plus, she can flat-out tell a story. If you never made it to law school - and even if you never wanted to - don't miss the chance to get Called On." - Kermit Roosevelt, author, Allegiance and In the Shadow of the Law • "McElroy has provided us with a fresh and modern take on life in law school. The story is told through the eyes of an idealist, who enters law school with the best of intentions only to find that law can be as messy as love. This book is a must read for anyone thinking about taking the plunge into law school." - Shon Hopwood, author, Law Man • "I didn't go to law school, but author Lisa McElroy did, and that's a great thing for readers of fiction. McElroy uses her personal experience as both a law student and law professor to create a world of high stakes studies, complex personal relationships, and meaningful discussions of themes like liberty and justice. Called On is a complete first novel, expertly conceived and skillfully written. Memorable, vivid, and true-the story of two women, one student and one prof, who find themselves in the law." - Lian Dolan, author, Helen of Pasadena and Elizabeth the First Wife • "Called On may be this generation's One L, narrating the modern law school experience with all its stress, cut-throat competitiveness, inflated egos, flaws, and triumphs. Early on, the main character observes, 'From what I hear, law school is full of surprises.' McElroy turns that into an understatement, with plot twists that make Called On a true page-turner. Anyone who has been to law school, teaches there, or knows lawyers will instantly recognize one or more of McElroy's vivid characters." - Tony Mauro, Supreme Court Correspondent, The National Law Journal

But tall, dark and totally gorgeous tycoon Sam Lancaster 's arrival sends her into such a fit of flutter she forget's where she left the confetti, the man does more of a number on her senses than a knock over the head!Sam however is mysterious and this of course as all us woman know makes the man even more sexy than other's who are open about everything, so it just confuses Kate even more. Him sticking around a little longer than it will take to cut the cake just makes things even worse for poor Kate. The man makes her heart soar one minute and all she wants to do is fall into his arms and the next his overseeing her building project makes her blood boil, well just a little.Neither Kate nor Sam has the time or inclination for distractions, planning weddings is what Kate does best and being distracted will only cause trouble and as for Sam he needs to focus on getting the job done, and Kate and her sweet smile will certainly not help his case, he needs to get the job done and get going !I loved, loved LOVED this book from start to finish. It had so much wonderful emotion it sent my heart souring into the clouds and I did not want to come back down! I loved the feisty-ness of the heroine, trying to keep it together and refusing to let your life fall apart is never an easy task, yet this heroine made it look and sound easy but at the same time the author let the element of fear and doubt shimmer through to remind me that it is easy to put on a brave face but deep down you are falling to pieces. The character of Sam was so delicious the man made my toes curl , but one minute I wanted to hug him and the next I wanted to strangle him. This however just showed that it is pretty much the same for everyone every time we need to make big decisions. Our emotions are all over the place, we want to do the right thing and be seen as a kind person who everyone wants to hug and congratulate, but we also know that the other option is sometimes the best to do and no matter what we try it will result in someone wanting to strangle us.The read was filled with many wonderful moments of sweetness, the kind that makes you wish you could climb inside the book and stay there in order to live the lives of the characters. Passion, gentleness and understanding shone through in this read so beautifully it brought me to tears, excellent job Kandy!I am taking away a message of life has a way of bringing someone of a problem of some sort into our lives for a reason, you might be thinking " I don't need this now" and that's okay it's a natural reaction. But if the problem of person does not go away it 's a clear cut sign that life is trying to let you know this is something you need to act on. So don't hold back, take the step and try to see the light.I highly recommend this read for all fans of romance. It was sweet, kind, sensual and filled with a stunning set of characters in a beautifully crafted plot that will have you falling in love over and over again. This author has once again shown me that the brighter side of life can be found at the most unexpected of times.5/5 star review" Happiness comes riding into town, but will it stick around for the long run or head out faster then it arrived?"** Copy provided in exchange for a honest review

By Nasreen Jahan THE TYCOON AND THE WEDDING PLANNER by author Kandy Shepherd is a Harlequin Romance release for July 2014.Kate Parker has secrets and doesn’t intend to leave Dolphin Bay. Yet Sam Lancaster is a big city guy. Could they make it work? But he is sticking around, would he stay for ever? What would happen when he learns Kate’s secret for he also is running away from his past. Could Kate and Sam make their way to each other? They have sizzling chemistry but could it lead to something more?THE TYCOON AND THE WEDDING PLANNER is a sweet romance shimmering with sensuality just below the surface. It was an emotionally uplifting story. Author Kandy Shepherd’s story-telling makes the characters come alive on the pages and the reader is personally involved in their happiness and craves the resolution as deeply as they do. This is a story about recovering from past guilt and grief and moving forward. The premise was wonderful and story moved along very fast.I loved this story and highly recommend it.

Whittaker - Page Flipperz Blog THE TYCOON AND THE WEDDING PLANNER is another heart-warming and sweet romance by author Kandy Shepherd. Kandy knows how to write swoon worthy stories, with depth and definition. Characters that you can relate to and stories that leave you starry eyed and sheepishly happy.I am a lover of a contemporary romance and Kandy is certainly a Harlequin Writer queen when it comes to these. I can always expect a love story that will leave me content but also heavy and light hearted throughout the read. The storyline was written at a wonderful pace, giving the reader depth into the story and the characters thoughts and feelings. The scenery is always well envisaged with gorgeous details – including Dolphin Bay a place I’d certainly love to find love in (sigh)As Always The romance is sensual and sweet, and Kandy gives the reader the HEA we eagerly await both for ourselves and the characters. Some may call it predictable but I call it fate ;)Sensual, satisfying, and with a tall dark and handsome spunk what more could any girl want?? ** drools *Kandy has created a story both intriguing and tantalizing. It’s funny, and quirky, romantic, passionate and filled with love, and certainly an adventure of the heart.Loved all the characters... Both Kate and Sam are wonderfully delivered giving the story LIFE AND LOVE AMOUNG THE PAGES.

By betty l. dravis I was always told that you can't judge a book by its cover, but with Ghost Orchid you can! The story inside is just as beautiful as the cover. Both are as rare as the ghost orchid on the cover. Author D.K. Christi has woven her knowledge of the Florida Everglades and nature into an exquisite, enchanting love story where a rare ghost orchid plays a magical, pivotal role for all the characters. The story opens with a lonely, middle-aged woman, Mel, taking her daily walk at the Audubon Society Sanctuary, reminiscing about her lost love and other secrets of her past. Although melancholy, she feels blessed to have experienced a "Great Love" in her life. She longs to see her estranged lover "just once more before she dies" and is happier among the sights and sounds of nature than anywhere else. She's a solitary figure at the sanctuary, but she's a "regular" and is known and well-liked by the staff. The story switches back and forth between Mel and Neev, a statuesque beauty who quit modeling to study philosophy at Oxford University. Neev loves photography, so eventually decides to pursue that career, a path that takes her to exotic locations around the world. She lands a plum assignment with a famous photographer, Roger Andrew, who is always seeking a rare "find" in nature. Roger is much older than Neev, but he becomes her mentor and best friend and they have a loving relationship.Although Roger and Neev share many things, she never confides to him about her family life or her reluctance to visit Florida. And Roger doesn't talk much of his ex-wife and son. Roger is passionate in his mission to uncover a "rare find," so when he learns that a ghost orchid is blooming at the Audubon Society Sanctuary, he convinces Neev to accompany him.For reasons I can't reveal without spoiling the plot, Neev is as passionate in her dislike of her mother as Roger is about his drive to find the elusive flower. Neev was raised by a devoted German couple and always wondered about her father. She longs to know more about him, but harbors little hope for a "love of her own."Something happens to Mel at the same time the rare orchid is spotted. That's a tragedy, but it creates the magic in this story, bringing the most unlikely people together in the most magical ways. What happens to Mel? Why has Neev chosen such a solitary, lonely life? What is so unique about this particular ghost orchid? Does it really have mystical powers? Who is the mysterious amateur photographer who becomes Roger's email friend? And how do Roger's Florida relatives fit into the picture?D.K. Christi answers all those questions in a masterful way, with near-perfect pacing, believable, likable characters--and a little help from a rare ghost orchid.I highly recommend this haunting, exquisite love story.ENDNOTE: There are some coincidences that could be considered as contrived by the author, but with a story this well-written and beautiful in its symmetry and uniqueness of plot, who would question that?Reviewed by Betty Dravis, July 22, 2010Author of "Dream Reachers" (with Chase Von) and other books

As I looked at the book cover, before I began reading, I couldn’t help but to feel excited. Just the background, the girl and the white most around the camera had my imagination getting ahead of me. Calming myself down I had to remember to read it first. When I finished reading I saw in awe. The book cover did not disappoint, because the story is as brilliantly beautifully as it is. A mystical romantic story of love, betrayal, heartache and forgiveness I was hooked from the beginning.D.K. Christi is a talented author who has her own style of writing that amazes me. The Everglades plays as a setting in the story, at what points I won’t say because I don’t want to give spoilers, and the author described the setting with more than on point knowledge. Not only is the Everglades described on point, but they were beautifully and vividly described. I felt as though I could image every single detail down to the smallest thing. The story came alive as I read each word and I didn’t want it to ever end. The plot contained twists and turns that kept me from even thinking about putting the book down. Mysteries around the past come slowly undone as she tells her story. “Ghost Orchid” is a magical and yet romantic read that I’m adding to one of my favorite reads. I even felt as though I was following the characters Neev and Mel watching them from afar throughout their lives.D.K. Christi captivated me with this book and stunned me to the very end. It’s a very moving story one that deserves to be read by everyone. She is a brilliant author and I can’t wait to read her next book. I recommend me this book to everyone and guarantee that you will be stunned when your finished. I do caution readers who plan or will read this book by saying that it’s one you need to make sure you schedule is clear until your done since you won’t put it down until the end.I was provided a copy of this book by the author for my honest review.Reviewed By: Keishian @ After Dark Reading Nook

Ghost Orchid is gentler, but equally compelling. It is a story of love, heartache, betrayal and cynicism, of discovery and of yearning and reconciliation. It is as magical as the rare and mysterious Ghost Orchid of its title.A woman obsessed with love for a man who is unable to commit to her finds comfort in an Audubon Society sanctuary in the Everglades. She is estranged from her daughter Neev, who was raised in Germany, and resents her mother. Neev is a brilliant and beautiful woman who travels the world as a wildlife photographer, often in the company of a much older photographer who becomes her best friend and mentor. The characters are brought together by the discovery of a rare ghost orchid in the sanctuary. Author D.K. Christi created characters and setting so vivid that I felt I was in the Everglades. I experienced some initial confusion about who each person was, but by the end, I was as mesmerized as the visitors to the sanctuary. I didn't want the book to end.Ghost Orchid is not a "standard" romance, but it is romantic and mystical and haunting. Well worth reading and the kind of book that stays with you.

Smooth as Butter, Sweet as Chocolate By Peggy Kassees Smooth as whipped butter, sweet as melted chocolate, refreshing as ice mint tea, Rhett DeVane's book melts on the tongue and slides down with all the comfort of, well, mama's comfort food. With writing is as rich as Carol Burns's Mama's Secret Recipe Chocolate Chip Cookies (included), Rhett takes us to the thriving small town of Chattahoochee, Florida, home of one of Florida's Mental Health Hospitals for the Criminally Insane, and home to Karen Fletcher/Mary Elizabeth Kensington, who is undergoing a crisis of her own.Over twenty years ago Karen Fletcher turned her back on everything and moved to Atlanta. She changed her name, assumed a British accent, and became a celebrity on Georgia Public Television known as Mary Elizabeth Kensington. She has two cats and a fiancée in Atlanta, and yet she is alone preparing to face one of the most terrible of diseases: breast cancer.Unsure of her welcome, Karen/Mary arrives on her mother's doorstep. DeVane weaves a story of compassion, humor, and poignancy that resonates with anyone who has gone through the agonizing process of dealing with a serious illness.Karen Fletcher must not only come to grips with the disease, but with herself, too. It is time she decides who she really is. DeVane tells a rich tale filled with Karen's family and friends. We ride along with Karen's ups and downs, intermixed in the small town life that not only thrives in the south, but in every corner of the world; A place where people come together to support one of their own.DeVane skillfully weaves the tradition of food as mankind's basic comfort along with compassion and caring in this heart-warming book.As Margaret, says: "You see, its one thing to go around saying that you'll be healthy and live a long life. It's entirely another to really live each day as if it was the greatest gift in the universe. Love your family. Kiss babies. Play with abandon. Make chocolate cake and . . . sit and watch a sunset."Allow me add: Read Mama's Comfort FoodMama's Comfort Food

Her ability to tell a story of heartbreak and courage with such realistic emotion and compassion is without measure. I love the way "Karen's" family found ways to use their love and humor to help her through such a horrific experience; and how forgiveness for her 20-year slight was never questioned. As a close neighbor to Chattahoochee (Tallahassee, FL) I can truthfully say that the personalities involved in DeVane's books are so believeable. I bought this book for my seven sisters and two best friends and without one exception they all rate it tops. Thanks for another heartfelt, wonderful story about how friends and family cope with a real-life experience.
