Natalie Alexander (narrator, author/writer) moved to a different town in hopes of escaping her past. It’s not long & she soon meets Nicholas Nick Norton (Jim’s nephew, HS English teacher)Fast forward could there be a romance blooming? There was an explosion at the HS. It was found out students had mixed the wrong chemicals together, not a bomb.Nick was rushed to St. Elizabeth Hospital (Belleville) in critical condition.Dr. Swenson gave Natalie & Mrs. John (Aunt) the update news about him.Dr. Givens also did surgery on him. The recovery was well past 4 weeks.Nathalie was working diligently on her next novel. She also had a book signing in Oklahoma. Will Natalie make peace with her past? What will become of Natalie & Nick?I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A delightful very well written romance book. It was very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great romantic movie, or mini TV series. Not something I normally read but I really enjoyed it. That said I will still rate it at 5 stars.Thank you for the free Goodreads; Making Connections; Author; PDF bookTony Parsons MSW (Washburn)

It's a sweet story about love, forgiveness, and moving beyond our past into what God has in store for us. It's so nice to read a clean love story that also focuses on God's love for us and how He orchestrates circumstances to bring us to Himself. I also enjoyed the reminder of how powerful the community of God's people can be as we serve one another, both within and without the church. I highly recommend it!

I particularly enjoyed how the main character was an author, because I was able to relate to her well. She was also very self conscious, which seemed to make her a more realistic character when compared to other traditional romance heroines.Michelle Connell's writing is clear and crisp. Her words flow freely, and she incorporates great descriptions into her writing. As I was reading this novel, I couldn't help but turn the page over and over again. I am a sucker for romance, but I think that even those who aren't as passionate about romance would enjoy this novel. Her writing is artistic, and I could tell that she was trying to paint a picture with her words instead of just merely telling a story. When I was reading her novel, I felt as though I were analyzing a beautiful oil painting in a well known museum. She captured the flaws of the human experience well, while also incorporating hope and love, which are both things that humans tend to search for on a daily basis. Because of these aspects, I would relate her novel to the genre of "literary fiction" instead of just romance since this novel is strong enough to stand on its own. Her novel not only reads like a great beach read, but it reads like something that you would want to recommend to your friends. I didn't find her writing to be immature at all, which I sometimes find with romance novels, and I highly recommend her work for all age ranges, since it is not too mature for younger readers. If you are looking for a light, fun romance that is filled with love and hope, then I highly suggest "Cookie Encounter". It is short and sweet, a novel that you won't want to miss. It would be great for those who have busy lives and need a shorter novel to conquer.

In 1966, as the champions of the AFL and NFL prepared to play each other for the first time, Kansas City Chiefs–owner Lamar Hunt wrote the following to Commissioner Pete Rozelle: “I have kiddingly called [the championship game] the Super Bowl, which obviously can be improved upon.”How wrong Hunt was. After the AFL merged with the NFL, “Super Bowl” became the official title of the NFL championship game in the years to come. In celebration of the first fifty Super Bowls, David Fischer traces its evolution from a game that didn’t sell out in 1967 to a worldwide phenomenon with a viewership in the hundreds of millions.Packed with dozens of arresting full-color illustrations—highlighting game action, memorabilia, and players and coaches—The Super Bowl includes sections on the greatest games, individual performances, and game-changing plays. Fischer explores unique Super Bowl angles as well, including a ranking of “The Best Who Never Won” and “The Best Who Never Lost,” along with perspectives from players and fans. He covers the action, the heroes, the strategy, and the records from half a century of championship football. This celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of America’s premier sporting event is an essential addition to any football fan’s collection.Skyhorse Publishing, as well as our Sports Publishing imprint, are proud to publish a broad range of books for readers interested in sports—books about baseball, pro football, college football, pro and college basketball, hockey, or soccer, we have a book about your sport or your team.Whether you are a New York Yankees fan or hail from Red Sox nation; whether you are a die-hard Green Bay Packers or Dallas Cowboys fan; whether you root for the Kentucky Wildcats, Louisville Cardinals, UCLA Bruins, or Kansas Jayhawks; whether you route for the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, or Los Angeles Kings; we have a book for you. While not every title we publish becomes a New York Times bestseller or a national bestseller, we are committed to publishing books on subjects that are sometimes overlooked by other publishers and to authors whose work might not otherwise find a home.

Review “Fischer break[s] his narrative into chapters and makes subjective calls along the way. Since sports fans love a good argument, there’s nothing wrong with that approach and the author supports his opinions with many appropriate game details. [T]he sidebars — for instance, ‘The Best Who Never Lost,’ ‘The Best Who Never Won’ — offer a slew of interesting angles and insights.’ --Newsday

About the Author David Fischer has written for the New York Times and Sports Illustrated for Kids, and has worked at Sports Illustrated, National Sports Daily, and NBC Sports. He is the author of Yankee Stadium Scrapbook: A Lifetime of Memories and Derek Jeter #2: Thanks for the Memories; coauthor of Sports of the Times and Greatest Sports Rivalries; and editor of Facing Mariano Rivera.

A must for any serious pro football fan By Matthew Kohut This book is a great reminder of the classic teams that have defined football history in the modern era, from the Green Bay Packers of the mid-1960s right up to the New England Patriots of today. The game summaries bring you right back into the action, and the sidebars such as "The Best Who Never Lost" and "Pantheon of Heroes" put the stars' achievements in perspective. The photographs are fantastic. A must for any serious football fan.

And the inclusion of cultural references and stories about the half time shows made it an interesting read for me too, and I know nothing about football. Would definitely recommend!!

By SleepsByTheVent David Fischer writes a great history of the Super Bowl in this book with awesome pictures and amazing stats from the greatest annual sporting event. He shows how some made it look so easy (Tom Brady with 13 TDs in 6 SBs) while others couldn't get out of their own way (Rich Gannon throwing 5 INTs in one game). A nice foreword by SB Legend Franco Harris is a hard act to follow but Fischer is able to hold the reader's interest for another 175+ pages. He weaves in stories around the games such as what was going on in the world that year as well as who was playing the halftime show. Very informative and nostalgic for me as I have seen about 40 of the 50 games.

Meet Julie Chavan. Julie is trying to rescue the legendary New York publishing house West 57. Everyone else in her life is trying to rescue Julie - her mother, her ex-fiancé, her ex-best friend, and even the ghost of her dead father. They all think they know what Julie needs. What Julie actually needs is a big best seller for West 57, but her debut of the year's hottest book is spinning wildly out of control.

Julie is dealing with a dead con artist, an oversexed London agent, an irresistible young book editor, a drunk author spouting bawdy limericks, and a flying Chihuahua. The smart thing would be to say good-bye to West 57. Julie's Hollywood mother wants her in Los Angeles, and there's nothing keeping Julie in New York - nothing except her whole life. But before Julie can decide where she's going, she has to decide what she really wants. Exuberantly funny and emotionally rich, West 57 will make you laugh and cry about love, friendships, and the big choices in life.

This second helping of chic lit from Brian Freeman was delicious. The sweet and salty combination in his characters was the perfect accompnament to the engaging plot line, flavored of course with suspense and intrigue. Light enough not to ruin your diet, but rich enough to keep you indulging long after you should have gone to bed! Treat yourself and pick up a copy!

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. WEST 57th By Amazon Customer West 57th B. N. FreemanAt times a ghost can come in handy when you need one. Imagine being able to talk with your father’s ghost, get his take on things and help running a publishing house that he left to you. But, Julie Chavan is anything but usual. She is headstrong, impulsive and often finds herself in situations that she wishes she could avoid. Like owning West 57th the publishing house that is how her own responsibility and the thought that it might go under is something she does not relish. Debts owed. Only one book being launched with and author that is anything but conventional or even talented. King Royal is brash, drunk, enjoys saying outrageous things in public, reciting limericks and short poems and often finds himself in wild and strange circumstances. But, just what is behind King Royal’s behavior and what secrets does he know about Sonny, Julie’s father that could change everything?Owning this company is just one of the daily troubles dealing with her overbearing mother Cherie who wants to orchestrate and run her life hoping she will chuck it all, marry her ex-finance, deal with her wild best brined and find her way to Los Angeles and running her production company. Everyone thinks that they know what Julie should be doing or want. But, what about Julie? Some of the interactions are quite hilarious and each time King Royal comes into the act things really heat up. The book signing and book launch was planned out but no one would expect several patrons to bring little dogs, have them attack King Royal and what happens to him and the end result is well you have to read it for yourself to appreciate the hilarity and the humor created by the author. But, West 57th means a lot of Julie and to her editor Garrett. Here is where things get really quite dicey as we learn about her true feelings for him, what would happen if she sells out and the fact that she and Thad her old boyfriend have got it back on.That’s not all there is more as we learn that an FBI agent named Brown is following Julie and when they finally connect more havoc ensues as King Royal disappears, claims that his life is in danger, a reporter named Duggan who wants to scoop on the whole Irving Wolfe death and disappearance is murdered and this is just the beginning. What does Julie know about Wolfe’s last night on the boat? Did he commit suicide? Was her father on the boat? What is the secret that King Royal has and why does he want more money to keep quiet? Best friends and drinking partner has a plan that would force Julie to remain where she is and go into a venture with her. Can they pull off owning both a publishing house, music division, gaming division and much more? Can they work together without driving each other crazy? Bree is a true friend in most respects except when she is in need of a man and does not care who he belongs too. Added in Cherie enlightens Julie on an impromptu visit about her father, their relationship and why she left. Love, honor, betrayal, revenge, friendship and relationships and one girl’s need to find herself and where she really belongs, West 57th is chocked will with drama, laughter and what this author does best MURDER! When it is revealed that Irving Wolfe is really dead and has been murdered and that Nick Duggan the reporter was shot as was Irving what is the common denominator: You guessed it I won’t give it away!Conversations between Bree and Julie are quite humorous yet sad in some respects as both are searching for new horizons and each going about it in her own way yet in some ways destructive. With Cherie hoping that Julie and Thad will tie the knot. Julie considers her mother’s offer to move to California as Bree comes up with a business venture that just might change it all. But, can Julie honestly find happiness with Thad? Can Thad stay faithful and what is his real motive for wanting Julie to come to California? When is she going to let go of Cherie’s apron strings and finally stand up to her and on her own? Overpowering, over indulging her own whims and a mother who cares but mainly for what she wants, will she ever respect Julie for who she is and stop trying to orchestrate and plan her life?King Royal seems to be at the center of it all and as you get to know him you realize that he is more like an albatross around the neck of Julie’s company even though he might just bring it into the black and out of the red. If he goes missing or is dead sales might go up sky high. When FBI agent Brown goes to his hotel to find him why is he missing? Just who killed Irving Wolfe? Who else was on that boat and why did Walter Pope want to kill King Royal at his book launching?Captain Absolute was her father’s project, which she was surprised to know. Thinking the idea belonged to Bree. Bree was his agent and the truth behind the funding is what changed it all and caused the deaths of the reporter and Wolfe. Learning that her father and Wolfe were partners in West 57th changed the way Julie looked at everything which is why her mother wanted to walk away and sell to Helmet Gernestier and allow the company to continue on. With the FBI agent hot on her trail, questions being asked and wanting to know who killed the reporter and evidence brought to light as to what might have happened on the boat, Julie begins to doubt her father’s innocence and that sends a huge dark cloud over her. But, even more she seems to be pushing everyone away and being with Thad just might be toxic.King Royal winds up disappearing and when they finally find him you won’t believe in what state or where.Julie cannot face her feelings for Garrett and a simple misunderstanding sends her back to Thad and going along with what her mother wants for her instead of looking long and hard at what she needs. But, when Garrett puts it too her straight and solid she does not want to hear it: “Everyone is running your life except you.” Think about that Julie! Just what happens to reveal whom the killer really is but first she wants to revisit Libby and hopefully rekindle her fame with her newest book after twenty years called Woodham Road. But, will anyone want to publish it at West 57th? What about forming an alliance with Bree and not moving to California? Will she sell it? Will she move? Will Julie face herself in the mirror and realize what is right in front of her?An ending that is explosive, filled with a surprise and twist you will never see coming as author B.N. Freeman reveals the truth behind Captain Absolute, the funding and just his own special brand of intrigue and murder. This book is a definite romance, mystery/murder thriller with humor, sarcasm, hilarity and the author’s special brand of writing. Let’s hope that Bree, Julie and Garrett come back to let readers know what’s next for them!
