The plot lines never develop beyond an unsatisfying "quickie," and there's zero character development. My lack of engagement made the sloppy editing extremely irritating. Try authors Riley Murphy, Cherise Sinclair, or the Crossfire series. My apologies for all the negativity, but I mistakenly trusted the other reviews.

Excellent character development By Amazon Customer Ella has done an excellent job at true character development and evoking emotions that are either for or against every single character and each situation.I look forward to continuing each antholgy to its completion and I will be looking for additional writings from Ms Ardent.

The author has an exceptional understanding of "marginal individuals" and how difficult it is to survive as a single mom with a child. Their was so much hope in the book. I think it should be required reading for all single moms.

I could relate to it in so many ways and on so many levels, from the treatment of illness to views on young marriage. Jeanette Michalets really addresses some very difficult issues in a positive, balanced way while keeping the reader on edge. Much as I loved her previous book, "The 10-cent Cafe," for me "Hope is the thing with feathers" was more my type of style because of it dealing with more contemporary issues. Can't wait to see what she writes next!

Discover the Mental Secrets Smart Golfers are Using to Play Their Best Golf Every-Time They Step Onto the Course! “Golf is a game that is played on a 6 inch course, the distance between the ears” - Bobby Jones Most golf instruction books focus on the physical mechanics of the game; like how to improve ones golf swing, putting or chipping techniques. For most golfers this is simply a band-aid to a much bigger problem of why they struggle on the course. The true secret to playing great golf lies within the last six inches of the game, that which most people never truly learn to harness. "Golf - The Last Six Inches: Change Your Brain, Change Your Game" by Sue Wieger (M.Ed, LPGA) will help you THINK, PLAY and FEEL better about yourself and your golf game; whether you are an aspiring tour player, low handicap, mid to high handicap, or even a beginner golfer. Learning or playing golf does not have to be rocket science if you start with the right attitude and mindset. Ben Hogan, the greatest player in the history of golf believed anyone with average coordination could learn to break eighty if one applies oneself patiently and intelligently. Traditional golf instruction has been driven by 80-100% mechanical focus, but yet when we survey players, they tells us “Oh yes, it’s such a mental game, probably at least 80% of the game is mental." So how does focusing on mechanics help build mental toughness in players? Just like practicing good sound fundamentals and mechanics, you must practice peak performance attitude and mindset. "The whole secret to mastering the game of golf -- and this applies to the beginner as well as the pro -- is to cultivate a mental approach to the game that will enable you to shrug off the bad days, keep patient and know in your heart that sooner or later you will be back on top." - Arnold Palmer Sue Wieger’s, "Golf - The Last Six Inches", will give you the fundamental knowledge how to build and sustain peak performance mindset. The hardest distance in golf to figure out is the six inches between your ears. This book, "Golf - The Last Six Inches" will help you figure out YOU. Here’s a Quick Preview of What You Will Learn: Chapter 1: The “WHY” of Golf Chapter 2: The Golf Cycle of Performance Chapter 3: The Self Image and Your Story Chapter 4: Your State of Mind is the State of Your Game Chapter 5: Focus - Where Your Focus Goes, Energy Flows Chapter 6: Self Talk - What You Say About Yourself. Is it the Truth ? Chapter 7: Trust Versus Trying Performances Chapter 8: The Cycle of Peak and Non-Peak Performance Chapter 9: Change Your Brain, Change your Game: The Tools and Strategies You Need to Succeed "Golf; The Last Six Inches" will give you tools to help you learn how to turn your mental game around and thus your entire golf game around. Changing your thoughts will change your game. It is possible to create your true potential just by changing your brain, your thoughts and your emotions. With this book you will create change in your game. "You can win tournaments when you're mechanical, but golf is a game of emotion and adjustment. If you're not aware of what's happening to your mind and your body when you're playing, you'll never be able to be the very best you can be." - Jack Nicklaus Golf is so relative to the six inches between your ears so lets start training that crucial space to create your unlimited possibilities on and off the golf course. I did as the author suggested and read the book cover-to-cover, then went back and worked through some of the exercises in the downloaded workbook. As a little background, I am a nearly-hopelessly left-brained thinker. Having been in management positions in my working life, control is my middle name. Since reading this book and working on exercises, I've been able to improve two areas of my golf game: imagination and commitment. By imagination, I mean being able to "see" the shot I intend and keep that picture in mind as I prepare to swing. I play catch frequently with my sons and I think of my intended or pictured golf shot to be much like when I intend to throw a curve or slider. If I intend to hit a low draw, then I picture it and swing the swing I feel will give me that shot. That also ties into commitment. Once I decide to hit a particular shot, my whole focus is on hitting that shot. That attitude keeps me committed to the exact shot I want and my results, especially as I get close to or on the green, frequently amaze me. Why only four stars then? In my case, a lot of the information is not new; I'm simply doing it now. Also, I found some of the exercises in the workbook to be moderately to non-helpful, perhaps a bit too "new-age" for an old guy like me.

Especially like the section on self talk, listening to people after reading this book has opened my eyes to just how negative people can be. I now have a very much " can do " attitude, have become more organised and have been hitting some great golf shots!!! Thank you Sue !!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Outstanding book for golf and life By Sheila Kloefkorn This is the most powerful book I've read about golf. I love how the book helps me understand the concepts for peak performance and the companion journal helps me bring it home very specifically for my own game. Sue Wieger has distilled the most important elements of success into one easy to read and incorporate book / journal that has already helped me in improve my game by several strokes. What I wasn't expecting was how much the mental concepts would also help me in my business. She elegantly outlines how the six inches between my ears impacts the quality of all aspects of my life. This is an amazing book. I highly recommend it.

The long-awaited autobiography of Ireland's most beloved rugby player: Peter Stringer

When Peter Stringer played youth rugby, he was so small that people told his parents he shouldn't be allowed on the pitch. Fortunately for Munster and for Ireland, they paid no attention. Over 200 provincial caps and 98 international caps later, Stringer is a legend.

Since making his Munster debut in 1998, his lightning-quick passing, sniping breaks and brave defending have electrified fans - never more so than when he deceived the entire Biarritz team at a scrum to sneak in for the try that brought Munster its first Heineken Cup in 2006. In Ireland's breakthrough season of 2009, his man-of-the-match performance at Murrayfield helped overturn a late deficit en route to the Six Nations Grand Slam.

Now, for the first time, Peter Stringer tells his own story - a story of overcoming the odds, and a story every Irish rugby fan will want to read.

'What gives the publication its grit is the scrum-half's no-holds-barred descriptions of fallings-out with various coaches ... All revelatory stuff' Liam Heagney, Irish Daily Mail

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great Read By Nav Logan Peter Stringer – Pulling the StringsI don’t read many autobiographies, but this one sounded promising. After slogging half way through the recent Brian O’Driscoll book and giving it up as a lost cause, I was hoping that this would be something different, and thankfully, it was.I’m a huge fan of rugby, and I’ve always liked and respected Peter Stringer as a player. Someone once described him as the perfect scrum-half, “He’s exactly what it says on the tin.” I thought this comment very apt. Many other scrum halves try to be an extra centre, and coaches are looking at bigger, scrum half’s to impose more physicality of the game. Me, I prefer a clever, sniping scrum half; a bundle of energy with good hands, quick feet and a sharp mind. Peter Stringer fits that bill. Watching his play for Bath last season, I’m glad to say that he still does. But you want to know about the book, right? The first impression you get from the book is Peter’s love of the game. The second is his work ethic and professional approach to everything he does, even at an early age.The story is a fascinating read, but it’s more than that. It’s an insight into the personality behind the persona of Peter Stringer. For instance, there is very little blowing of his own trumpet in this book. Far from it, in fact. He does, however, give enormous credit to those around him, his family, team mates, and the back room staff he respected. He gives credit where it is due, but isn’t afraid to criticise either. This book packs a few punches too.As Peter’s life progressed into the era of professional rugby, he is quite frank about his frustrations at being left on the bench, his self-doubts, and the struggles he had to overcome to fight for his place on the starting fifteen, or even the squad. It tells us about the hard decisions he was forced to make in order to keep on doing what he always loved; playing rugby. He speaks candidly about leaving Munster, a team he was fiercely loyal to, and making a new life for himself in the English Premiership. The story ends with two positive notes; his time in Bath, and his wife.Personally, I loved the book from start to finish, and wish Peter success in his new contract in Sale, his career as a player, and hopefully, at some later stage, that of a coach. I’m sure that his professional attitude and passion for the game will be in high demand in the near future, so that he can inspire a new generation of scrum halves to wear the red of Munster, or the Green of Ireland.

I found this to be an excellent book to support my parenting By Amazon Customer I found this to be an excellent book to support my parenting, especially in sport. Having been a keen athlete myself, I often find the chats with my son around his tennis to be some of the most difficult. My son is hoping to get a college scholarship and I’ve been following Anthony’s articles for the last couple of years and found them very helpful. This book is a fascinating collection of topics to do with the mental parts of the game.I really enjoyed the use of professional matches as examples to help me better understand my boy’s reactions in matches. There’s also a chapter that explains children’s brain development and how that affects their mental development in tennis. Anthony stresses the importance of what we do as parents for the long term development of our child's performance. And there’s plenty of other great stuff in there as well to help parents reflect on the actions of coaches. If you’re a parent who wants to help your child’s tennis development then I highly recommend this book.
