Her characters, Patience and Thunder, are well developed. Patience has a reputation that she is unaware of because she doesn't know who she is. She is strong yet timid because she is a mystery to herself. Patience's mind and body act upon situations that are true to herself. Thunder is an alpha that wants more and has found a family after trying to escape the past. He is a gentle giant except in the bedroom. Thunder can produce lightning and start a fire in the sheets. Can Patience figure out the mystery of who she is and can Thunder be the one to help her? This is a great read! Have you ever felt like you needed to find your true self? Do you know who you are?

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. I want my own Thunder!!!!! By Natalie Weston Davida Lynn just keeps getting better and better. I've been hooked on Davida since reading the Rising Son's MC series. So I was really excited when I found out there would be a Davis Chapter. I can't imagine what it would be like to wake up and not know who I was. I can only imagine what it would be like waking up and finding Hot Hot Thunder next to me. This fast paced read kept me on the edge of my seat until the very last page. Thunder and Patience are magic together. I can't wait to see what comes next for the Davis Chapter.

The fifth sassy and irresistible entry in the Debutante Dropout series finds Andy Kendricks uncovering more than just the beauty secrets of Dallas high society.

They call them pretty parties, and they're the latest rage among Dallas debutantes - get-togethers with light refreshments, heavy gossip, and Dr. Sonja and her magic Botox needles. Former socialite Andy Kendricks normally wouldn't be caught dead at such an event, but she's attending as a favor to her friend, Janet, a society reporter in search of a juicy story. And boy does she find one when aging beauty queen Miranda DuBois bursts into the room - drunk, disorderly, and packing a pistol.

Miranda's wrinkles have seen better days, and she blames it all on Dr. Sonja. Luckily, Andy calms her down and gets her home...where she's found dead the next morning. The police suspect suicide, but Andy knows that no former pageant girl would give up that easily. She's determined to find Miranda's killer herself, but she'll have to be careful. After all, Botox can make you look younger, but it can't bring you back from the grave.

10 of 10 people found the following review helpful. McBride's best book yet By Armchair Interviews I'm upset at Avon Books. They've decided to shake up their mystery line and have dropped one of my favorite cozy writers, Susan McBride. And that, dear readers, is why this review is so late in coming. I got my hands on a galley copy of Too Pretty to Die in November 2007 and voraciously read Andy Kendricks latest escapade cover to cover in three nights.Too Pretty To Die is the fifth and final installment of the Debutante Dropout Mystery series. Maybe that's a good things because it seems that dropout debs are turning up everywhere in the bios of a host of young writers-like Cornelia Read. But always keep in mind that Susan McBride was the first to write about a woman named Andy who was just too hard-headed to do what her Momma wanted. This time, Andy gets dragged to a "pretty party" by her society reporter friend Janet, who is looking for the big story that will save her career. At this party the Dallas elite get Botoxed as they drink champagne and backstab each other. In stumbles Dallas' most beautiful new anchor, Miranda DuBouis, and takes a pot shot at the doctor with the magic needles. It seems that something went astray during Miranda's last visit to Dr. Madhavi and her face is so deformed that her career may well be over.Andy, in a gesture of compassion and an overabundant need to get the heck out of Dodge-and back to her dude whom she left sleeping in her bed-drives the drunk Miranda home and leaves her snoring it off. Then Miranda turns up dead and Andy becomes "the last person to see Miranda Dubois" alive.Too Pretty To Die is an easy read with enough twists to keep me guessing who did it. It is also McBride's best-written book yet. Readers who follow McBride can see her become a better writer with each book. Still, unlike Miranda, McBride's career is not over. She's signed with Delacourt and is busily fulfilling a contract with books about debs for a young adult audience.Armchair Interviews says: McBride is a good storyteller.

11 of 13 people found the following review helpful. This is not one to miss! By Detra Fitch The latest rage among all the Dallas debutantes is called a Pretty Party. Doctor Sonja Madhavi and Lance Zarimba, her boyfriend/aesthetician, show up with their "Botox in the Box" kit full of syringes and give little samples to each party guest. Few attend these parties and never show up at the Pretty Place boutique for treatments afterward. Former socialite Andrea "Andy" Kendricks would rather have a root canal than attend one, but attend she did. It was a favor to her close friend Janet Graham, a society reporter for the Park City Paper (PCP). And the juiciest story in the area drops into Janet's lap when aging beauty queen Miranda DuBois slams into the room full of alcohol, rage, and a small gun. Miranda is a star anchorwoman and went to the good doctor for just a tad of face work. Unfortunately, Miranda had "an adverse reaction to the wrinkle filler". Luckily the only thing hit by the bullet is a Picasso. Andy calms Miranda down and takes her home to bed. The next morning Miranda is found dead. The last thing Andy wants is to be dragged into another gut-wrenching drama. However, Miranda's mother is out of the country and the police think the death is by suicide. So Cissy Blevins Kendricks, Queen Bee of Dallas Society (a.k.a. Andy's mother), is named trustee of all Miranda's possessions. Add to this that Miranda's mother insists Cissy hire someone to conduct an independent autopsy (to draw his own conclusions separate and apart from the M.E.) as well as a private investigator. To make matters go from bad to worse, Cissy and the deputy have an argument, which everyone hears because the microphone was still on by mistake, so everyone knows that Andy was the last known person to see Miranda alive AND hears Cissy's claim (a.k.a. lie) that Andy has proof it was not suicide! Here we go again ...***** This is one fun and sassy read. Only Susan McBride can create such an amusing mystery that simply overflows with ... ah, tea and vinegar. The Debutante Dropout Mystery Series just seems to get better and better. This is not one to miss! *****Reviewed by Detra Fitch of Huntress Reviews.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Maybe Her Best Yet By D. Bell Too Pretty to Die is a sad commentary on the importance of beauty both in the world of television and also in everyday life. Miranda DuBois is a true beauty, pageant queen, and television anchor. But she has passed the magic "30" mark and is concerned about her future on the tube, particularly as she has received some anonymous viewer emails commenting on the deterioration of her looks. So she goes to Dr. Sonja Madhavi, celebrity skin doctor, toast of Dallas. And her botox is botched, leaving her with a twitchy eye and a droopy mouth. So, drunk and brandishing a gun, she crashes a "Pretty Party" and threatens Dr. Madhavi.Coincidentally Andy is there at the behest of her friend and society reporter Janet Graham. Andy, Janet, Miranda, and the hostess are all former schoolmates as well. They manage to subdue her and Andy takes her home to sleep it off. Thinking it's safe to leave her, she goes home to Brian. But the next morning Miranda is dead. The police are sure it's suicide. But her laptop and cell phone are missing. Andy's mother, society maven Cissy, a good friend of Miranda's mother, doesn't believe it's suicide. Neither does Andy. And Janet comes to agree with them.Cissy brings in an expert to do a post-mortem and hires a detective, Milton Fletcher, who is 35, handsome, an ex-Navy SEAL, and drives a Porsche Boxter when not on a case. (BTW Boxter is misspelled throughout the book!) If Andy weren't in love with Brian, Fletch would be so her type!Clues lead Andy to the Caviar Club, which is not a gourmet group--or at least not a gourmet FOOD group! All dressed up with hair and makeup perfect, the gorgeous Andy sets off to find the secrets of this hush-hush gathering of the beautiful (&/or very rich) people. And she does discover the motive for the murder, a somewhat pathetic one that gives the reader a little sympathy for the killer. At the end, there is a surprise for Andy. Make that two surprises, as Cissy has one for her as well.I've enjoyed this book because Andy acts more intelligent than in most of the others and has started to reach a certain amount of understanding of her mother, a character I absolutely love.I have not seen a 6th book advertised on Amazon as yet. I do hope there will be one.

Professional wrestling has a long and storied history that has been shaped by events that, had they played out differently, would have led to a vastly different wrestling business than the one that exists today. The choices made along the way haven't always been the right ones, but for better or worse, they've been directly responsible for the wrestling world as we know it. How might things have changed had those situations played out differently? What if Vince McMahon bought WCW in 1998 instead of Ted Turner? What if the NWO was never formed? How about if WCW survived past March of 2001? How could WWE have been rebuilt after the failure of the WCW/ECW InVasion? Buy this book and find out! This book also includes the following bonus features, covering three of the worst storylines ever: -The Undertaker's 2002 Heel Turn -Sgt. Slaughter: Iraqi Sympathizer -The Ultimate Warrior's 1998 WCW Run

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. sweet book By paula legate This was a sweet book. There were times I wanted to shake Ben and wake him up. I was thankful he figured everything out in the end. Both Ben, and Mary had heartbreak happen surrounding their family. Ben guarded his heart. Mary on the other hand faced the world head on. She was very brave.I loved the beginning of the book. The description of the hurricane that they faced was very good. Mary found Ben washed up on the shore. She was on her way to shelter to ride out the storm, but she couldn't leave him there. The wind was blowing hard, and Ben was a big man. Mary knew she could not carry him. She managed somehow to get him to a cave where the two rode out the storm. Mary is a nurse so she tended to Ben's injuries. The friendship that was forged in the cave was sweet and felt real. Two souls facing a storm found solace together, and the sparks flew as the chemistry heated up.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Nine Months to Change His LIfe By J S This story doesn't have the usual angst I love, but it doesn't matter. I like this book. Mary Hammond is a nurse who was falsely accused of negligence. She has gone to a deserted island to decompress and wait out a deadly cyclone in a protected cave. She and her dog check the shore before the storm hits and finds Ben Logan who has been washed up on shore. He and his twin were on an around the world yacht race and lost their yacht in the storm. Ben is injured but Mary struggles to get him to the cave in time and is able to care for him. Several weeks later she travels from New Zealand to New York to tell Ben she is pregnant. Sweet story with a happy ending. This is definitely on my re-read list.

I love stories where babies are the result of an accident, though fates hard work. I also enjoy reading stories where men, who were not looking to become fathers so soon, end up having their mind changed. We meet Mary and damn, she’s had a rough life. I love how the author worked in a Cinderella style story line into this novel! I truly felt for Mary!!! I wanted to hug her. It was not her fault. It was her stupid step mom’s fault and things happen that are out of our control. When we meet dare devil twin Ben. He’s your typical hero, rich and has been hurt by women. Granted there seems to be some bad luck following him and his twin Jake. When Marion entered the wild storm and the rescue, I was HOOKED! I was worried for Mary and most definitely worried about Ben. Being that Mary was smart and had some provisions stored away, and for her to have the strength to drag Ben into the small cave, was super human strength. Which is a true thing. I loved the chapters when they were in the cave. Marion detailed the story with heightened emotion, details and filled us readers in on what was going on for these two. Heck having the little dog in there was perfect!I enjoyed when the storm was over and Mary had come to terms with the possibility of not seeing Ben. Though I truly wanted him to rescue her. Needless to say he had some issues to deal with.Mary’s strength was catching. She came to tell Ben about the baby that was in her tummy and how she wanted nothing from him. The way the author wrote her hero and heroine was very well done. I wanted to meet them.Without giving anything more away with regards to the story. The characters were lovable, smart and witty. They made enduring the tropical storm, even more epic. How Mary tried to control the situation, and how Ben gently worked his way around Mary’s rules, for him to realize that this woman was the one he’d been in need of, was beautifully interwoven in the story.Needless to say, I am very interested in Jake story and what other stories this author has written!Cheers, H.L. Laffin

Sometimes there are monsters hiding in the people we love. Monsters we don’t see until it’s too late. As a psychologist to abuse victims, I see the damage those monsters can cause every day and the hell the women go through to regain their lives. My experiences in life are a double-edged sword. Without them, I wouldn’t understand the women who seek my professional help. Having them has ruined me for any woman. I refuse to let history repeat itself. I know the statistics of what should become of me, but I’m fighting the monster inside of me every day. I can’t turn my back on any woman who needs my help, and Dr. Lindsey Perkins is no exception. With an escaped convict she helped put away after her, she needs my protection more than anyone. But when she gets too close, who’s going to save her from me? I’ve built these walls for a reason. A reason Lindsey is determined to uncover. It’s better for her to only know me as Dr. Hatcher and leave Joseph behind the walls. Ages 18+ due to adult content and violence.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Five Stars are not enough - worth so much more! By Books Laid Bare & Books Laid Bare Boys Take all the preconceived ideas you have about this book from the blurb and chuck them, honestly just forget the whole lot because what this book contains is so much more than those few sentences could ever convey and I think how it will make you feel is more than the author had perhaps anticipated. I was sure I knew what I was getting when I opened the first chapter – after all the author has laid it out – NOT a chance! This was a story that not only snuck up on me, it left me gobsmacked. On face value Joseph is the consummate professional, the man that helps abused women to rebuild their lives, to find the strength to move on and start again. But behind his suited and booted exterior is an altogether different man, under that perfectly groomed exterior lies the most beautiful alpha man who without fail is more than enough to raise the temperature more than just a few degrees. But with all that he is, he also has a lot more hiding beneath the surface, he has demons that he desperately tries to keep locked away but for how long?Lindsey on the other hand, spends her days delving into the minds of criminals, the probing and questioning the very people that society would rather forget exist. She gives off an air of authority and control that is so far from the truth, outward impressions are deceptive and her strength isn’t as deep as she would like. She wants nothing more than to have someone to love and that will love her back, someone to take control and be the man that she needs but that simple wish no matter have hard she has prayed has failed to materialise.Could she have that with Joseph, could these co-workers have the all elusive something more?Initially I was 100% certain that they were too far apart and even if they did get together there were too many forces pulling and vying for their attention that they had no chance of surviving together.Joseph doesn’t do relationships, he has a past that means that having someone rely on him in that capacity is somewhere he never wants to go, and with Lindsey he cannot be the man she needs, being together is something that will only end in disaster or so he has convinced himself. He is his own worst enemy and I just wanted to yell at him to give himself a break, his past is an anchor he seems to wear around his neck and until he lets someone in he will continue to drown self-doubt – Can Lindsey be the woman to save him from himself?Like a great novel, the need cuts both ways and as much as Joseph is trying to keep his distance, when he takes her home to care for her whilst she is ill, the walls that he has constructed around his heart begin to be chipped away at little by little.Lindsey is being threatened by a criminal that she helped to convict and as their friendship has slowly begun to morph into something more Joseph feels an unnerving need to protect her. Knowing that the convict is coming after her takes precedence over his fears, he needs to keep her safe.As the walls begin to crumble and they start to let each other in, a tiny bit at a time, I still had my heart in my mouth and my fingers crossed that they could make it work and when they cut loose, the resulting read was exceptional and they were fabulous together. The relationship between the two of them when they finally got into their stride was just breath-taking, they were everything they needed to be and more and they set the pages alight! There are questions galore throughout the book that will have you searching for answers. Characters that will engage and mystify you, situations that will have you shaking your head and others that will leave you aghast. The mystery element of this book is first rate, it loses nothing as the romance between the two of them intensifies, if anything it gathers apace and refuses to be left on the side-lines.This is a book that has a foot firmly planted in both camps, Romance and Mystery and neither of them give way to the other – they are perfect bedfellows.Superbly written with an astonishing attention to detail and a sensitivity that was beautiful to read. Five stars is doing it an injustice – it is worth so much more!

I was so pumped to read this book!Maybe my expectations were too high, but I found myself disappointed by the end. Don't get me wrong, we get a stunning HEA, but the story itself felt stilted.Joseph was dreamy, but I found that he started to give me whiplash early on in the story. It wasn't consistent. It was as if he had a split personality. I don't mind a some dominant tendencies, typically I enjoy it a lot. But pick a side: is he nice and sweet with a smattering of strong willed or is he kind of rough around the edges with the ability to be sweet?Lindsey was really a strong heroine. I didn't find myself getting annoyed with her too much. I really appreciated her ability not to push Joseph for things as strongly as I see other heroines do.At the end of the day, I felt that the story was a good concept. But it wasn't for me, whether that was a plot thing, a writing style issue, or even dialogue cadence.

The Author has taken a story that you would think is predictable and turned it into this whole other world that you never saw coming.First off, who doesn't love a good co-workers to lovers story, cause I know I sure do! Second, take in the fact that Joseph is no where near the man he appears up front. One second you are looking at this highly professional man, who is dressed to a T, speaks with nothing but maturity and professionalism and is just an overall typical straight laced man. Then within the blink of an eye you are looking at this utterly gorgeous man who is sex on a stick but also has so many skeletons in his closet you end up loosing track of them. He was just simply put an absolute perfect alpha male that will leave you all hot and bothered and desperate to turn the next page. Then we have Lindsey, who is just stumbling through life looking for love when she isn't delving into the mind of criminals. She comes off as this strong amazing woman who can take on anything yet at the same time I was desperate to show a bit of weakness and lean on Joseph. When she does end up doing so the relationship between them is just stunning and evolves into something that was an absolute treat to read.Throw into the mix that this book offers a wonderful suspense and thriller side and you have an absolute 5 star read! You will be left unable to guess what is coming next and loving every second of it.I cannot wait to see what else this Author has in store for us in the future.

Benjamin An has discovered the human hand structure, which explains why humans are born to hit with an implement and to throw with a trajectory release. Hitting and throwing became the most powerful actions in the animal kingdom. These actions became the primary tools for humans to survive historically. Survival skills become sports actions in the modern, civilized world. Different sports were invented with modification of the sports actions. Dr. An has looked into these actions seriously in terms of human nature-intellectually, biomechanically, psychologically, physically, and mentally-in order to help athletes perform these actions without confusion. Many performance problems occur just because these actions are parts of human nature and humans know too much about these actions. For example, for every action, a human knows the results of this action. It is very hard for a human to concentrate on the actions only and ignore the results of these actions. Thinking about the results has become one of the most serious interferences of that action itself. Dr. An calls these intellectual interferences. Human physical actions are complicated by human mental thoughts and intellectual understandings. Sports actions are not just physical actions. Sports actions have to be modified if it is necessary and executed with specific mental thoughts in order to fit in any specific sport. The author has specifically emphasized on these points in his book.

About the Author Benjamin An was born in Henan, China, in 1931. He was one of those so-called refugee students who traveled through the battlefield during the Civil War period. He finally went to Taiwan with one of his elder brothers who was in the service of the Chinese Air Force at that time. He got his BS degree in biochemistry from Chung Hsing University, Taiwan, in 1958. After graduation, he taught at the Chinese Military Academy for two years before he came to the United States to pursue his graduate studies. He came to the United States in 1961 and entered the University of California at Berkeley, majoring in nuclear chemistry. After obtaining his MS degree at Berkeley, he went to teach at Cleveland State University for three years in the department of chemistry. He went to the University of Michigan under the tutorship of Dr. J. L. Oncley to study the lipoproteins in the department of biophysics and become a PhD candidate. After the decease of Dr. Oncley, he proceeded to the University of Detroit and got his dental degree as a DDS in 1966.

Athletes of all levels will gain a greater understanding of what it takes to be the very BEST you can be and how to get there By Jeff Klein When you read this book it will challenge your perspective. Students, teachers, and parents alike will all benefit from Dr. Benjamin An’s findings. Athletes of all levels will gain a greater understanding of what it takes to be the very BEST you can be and how to get there. As an athlete and tennis coach of nearly forty years, I started my education at Van Der Meers’ Tennis University. I worked hard to learn everything possible through the traditional methodologies but felt like there should be something more. When I first met Dr. An in 1986 he made quite an impression on me. The first question he asked was “Why do we play tennis?” I responded, “Because it is fun. We enjoy the exercise, the competition, as well as the social component. Additionally, it’s a lifetime sport.” He agreed and then stated, “Another important reason we play tennis, is that it satisfies a need we have to practice our survival skills.” For me, that simple statement and his research set me on an uncharted path that changed not only my thinking but everything including how I approached teaching, parenting, learning, and life.If you embrace the concepts in this book it will be an absolute game changer.

One of the critical junctures is concentrating on the right action at the right time and then moving onto the next action through present mindfulness. Dr. Benjamin An thoughtfully and illustratively explains the how and why as well as connects for us how sports is innately connected to our human condition. This is a great book for understanding not only how to improve performance but also how to think about and connect to our most basic human instincts.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Splash Hit! This book is a winner By Mary P. This book relates the most memorable stories from Giants history and current day. As a relatively new fan, the book taught me the origins of the team, tales of their beloved players, their greatest heartbreaks and their multiple successes. The authors have provided colorful detail and rich history. They brighten well known tales and unlock hidden secrets about the team. This book has deepened my loyalty to this team even more. My daughters have read the book many times and sometimes we read it together as a family. Each time we revisit the book, we learn something new. Often, when we are watching a game, we retrieve the book for reference on some historical fact or recent victory. It makes a great gift; I have given it to a dozen people at least, all of whom have enjoyed the book immensely. The little drawings at the start of each chapter add a special charm. Great Giants Stories has contributed to my newfound status as a die-hard Giants fan.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. I Agree. These Really Are Great Giants Stories + Well-Told By the Authors By Jeff Weiss Excellent read. I could have read this by myself and thoroughly enjoyed it. But, I read it to my son at bedtime for our mutual entertainment. Oh sure, it's the Giants, my team, and I think they are great. But, I challenge even the non-Giant's fan to read this and not find any number of compelling stories. The authors know their subject and make it come alive. It ends with the 2010 World Series - so we might get a new edition one day - I hope. Go Giants!

5 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Play Ball, Inspiring Stories of the SF Giants By gingerrogers Even though this book is targeted at young readers, it is a book of stories about some of the greatest SF Giants players; adult fans will love this book as much as young readers. I have an autographed Giants cap, signed by Dave Durvecky. I knew he lost his arm to cancer, but I didn't know what he went through; it is an inspiring story, it brought tears to my eyes, I cherish my signed SF Giants cap even more after reading about his strength and determination in fighting the cancer that ended his pitching career. .

“I’m twenty-six and I’ve never been kissed.” Staring into the bathroom mirror while making this brilliant comment is supposed to make it feel real. It doesn’t. Finding true love these days feels impossible to Kianna Ravencamp, only dysfunction surrounds her. Her sister’s married to an abusive husband and marriages she’s admired for years are falling apart. Maybe relationships like her parent’s don’t exist anymore. She dreams of true love and a family, but she’s never even been kissed. For her birthday, her best friend gives her a journal and dares her to follow her dream of songwriting and vocal lessons quickly follow. Kianna’s finally dared to dream big… if the three men in her life don’t get in her way. Nick Steele, her new vocal partner is flirtatious and charming. Derek Simpson, the new vocal coach is asking her out for coffee. Even Jason Payne, a childhood friend is acting odd. For the first time in her life, she will have to navigate dating and flirtation. Will her inexperience be her downfall? How will these relationships affect her songwriting career? Letting go and trusting God is the only answer that brings the path to real love and success.

2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful tale for everyone By Kathleen C. Sprayberry Kianna Ravencamp is twenty-six and never been kissed. She despairs of ever finding a man who she feels she can spend the rest of her life with, due to what she refers to the Dysfunction Junction of her town – the inability of couples to hold their relationships together. Most of the relationships around her are crumbling, or were never strong to begin with. One other thing holds Kianna back from a relationship, her weight. She's big, and believes that turns guys off. What chance does she have to find true love.I have known April Erwin for many years, close to ten, and have worked with her on this story for a lot of that time. Dysfunction Junction's Kianna Ravencamp exhibits all the same fears anyone in the dating scene feels – but she also has the fears of a young woman who doesn't have the slim, svelte body that is immortalized as perfect, and that, she feels, will keep a good man from noticing her good heart, deep faith, and fabulous sense of humor.Erwin has crafted a story on a level that anyone can identify with Kianna. Who among us hasn't struggled with relationships, whether we are dating or hitting a rough patch in our marriage. Ms. Erwin's characters are imperfect, like most people. They have their ups and downs. Nothing in their world goes exactly according to plan. The plot moves seamlessly throughout this tale. Sentence to sentence, paragraph to paragraph, chapter to chapter, the reader will find themselves falling more and more into Kianna's story. There is no bed hopping desperation, no bar nights where Mr. Right might be the worst Mr. Wrong, and definitely nothing more than what some scoff as old-fashioned morals as the main character struggles with her faith, her lack of a man, and how she has never had her first kiss.I highly recommend Dysfunction Junction for all lovers of romance, not just Christian romance or chick lit. Even those with a bent for other genres will love this simple yet complicated relationship novel.

Main character Kianna sets a very good example for young Christian women, while still being a relatable character. Exploring the themes of self-confidence, faith, and relationships, this book gives you a lot to think about.

DeSelms Once again April Erwin has done it again with a thoroughly engaging read with characters so enjoyable and realistic that they draw you in,making you sad when you are finished and making you greatly anticipate her next book!Kianna Ravencamp is 26 and has never been kissed.Although she yearns to find someone to love and be loved by, she is surrounded by dysfunctional and failed marriages, making her wonder if the marriage her parent's have is something that is obsolete. When Kianna is given a journal for her birthday and is encouraged by her friend to dream big and fulfill her lifelong dream of taking voice lessons and make a recording she does not imagine it will change her life so drastically. Now Kianna goes from being 26 and never kissed to have 3 guys interested in her. What is she to make of her handsome singing partner Nick's flirtatious attitude, her vocal coach interest in her or her dear friend childhood friend Jason acting odd around her? Whatever is going on in Kianna life she quickly finds that God is taking her in paths she did not imagine and He has a plan for her life.I really enjoyed this book and recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good Christian book with wonderful characters who you can relate to and a great content that really causes you to reflect on God's workings in your own life.

How do you build a champion? For the Golden State Warriors, it started with a vision.

That vision was of a team that Head Coach Steve Kerr described as having the magic that occurs when a group of players, coaches, and an organization come together and achieve something special. After 40 years of waiting, Golden State Warrior fans have witnessed that magic.

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS is the Golden State Warriors official team commemorative, celebrating the historic games, plays, and personalities that brought an NBA championship back to the Bay Area. This is the story of how the Warriors came together to realize their potential, becoming a powder keg on offense and unleashing synchronized chaos on defense. The Warriors unique blend of efficiency on both ends of the floor resulted in a franchise-record 67-win season, a 16-game winning streak, and a 39-2 home record powered by the most electric crowd in basketball.

The best sports photographers in the business provide the definitive perspective on this record-setting season, chronicling such landmark events as the team s 26-point comeback win over the Boston Celtics, Klay Thompson s NBA-record 37 points in a single quarter, Stephen Curry s miracle 3-pointer to force overtime against the Pelicans in Game 3 of the Conference Quarterfinals, the team s relentless defensive stand against LeBron James one-man wrecking crew in the Finals, and the celebration of Warrior fans around the world as the final buzzer sounded and returned the Larry O Brien Trophy to the Bay Area.

With original contributions by team and media insiders, STRENGTH IN NUMBERS is a tribute to the sacrifice, determination, and, most importantly, teamwork that defined the magical NBA Champion Golden State Warriors.

Kara Tippetts's story was not a story of disease, although she lost her battle with terminal cancer. It was not a story of saying goodbye, although she was intentional in her time with her husband and four children. Kara's story was one of seeing God in the hard and in the good. It was one of finding grace in the everyday. And it was one of knowing "God with us" through fierce and beautiful friendship. In Just Show Up, Kara and her close friend, Jill Lynn Buteyn, write about what friendship looks like in the midst of changing life seasons, loads of laundry, and even cancer. Whether you are eager to be present to someone going through a difficult time or simply want inspiration for pursuing friends in a new way, this eloquent and practical book explores the gift of silence, the art of receiving, and what it means to just show up.The late Kara Tippetts was the author of The Hardest Peace and blogged faithfully at mundanefaithfulness.com. Cancer was only a part of Kara's story. Her real fight was to truly live while facing a crushing reality. Since her death in March 2015, her husband, Jason, is parenting their four children and leading the church they founded in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Jill Lynn Buteyn lives in Colorado with her husband and two children. She has a bachelor's degree in communications from Bethel University. In 2013, she won the ACFW Genesis award for her inspirational novel, Falling for Texas (written as Jill Lynn).

Just Show Up: The Dance of Walking through Suffering Together, by Kara Tippetts, Jill Lynn Buteyn

Review “Kara Tippetts changed my life and thousands of others’ lives because she was a rare, singular voice who, when facing the end of her life here, had street cred to speak about what really matters. Open these rich, radical pages and give yourself the gift of friendship like you’ve always wanted and community like you’ve only hoped for—before it’s too late to just show up.”Ann Voskamp, New York Times bestselling author of One Thousand Gifts(Ann Voskamp)

Most honest book I've read By Frosty Just Show Up: The Dance of Walking Through Suffering Together by Kara Tippetts & Jill Lynn ButeynKara Tippetts was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. You may remember that during her illness she reached out to Brittany Maynard as a voice against assisted dying. Kara's story involves more than dying; her story reflects the life and love of family and friends.Kara and Jill joined forces to write about their difficult journey. These two young women shared a give and take relationship while Kara went through cancer treatment and eventually hospice. You might think Jill did all the giving and Kara all the taking, but that would be wrong. Through their fresh, new friendship each one learned from the other and depended on each other, as well as a slew of friends God set in their path.Just Show Up is the most honest book I've ever read. Both authors bared their souls and wrote about the hard times, the good days, the laughter, and the tears. Most of all they shared their journey as a transparent story for the reader to experience in full. Many of Jill's chapters are prefaced by the notes she wrote in reaction to Kara's, but never mailed. As a relatively new friend of Kara's she shares the insecurity she felt as she plodded her way through giving. Kara gave excellent and raw insight into what it's like to be the person receiving the gifts. As I read the book, I witnessed an amazing faith. This is not a my friend's sick, let's take a casserole sort of book. This is an inside look at what it's like to live out the end of life with a friend and the friend's family. This is a practical guide about when to call ahead, when to volunteer to watch the kids, and when to send a prayer up and remain quiet. As I read Just Show Up my heart went out to the women who circled around Kara and gave of themselves. But at the same time, I saw how these young mothers were blessed beyond measure because they trusted God and just showed up.I received Just Show Up free in exchange for a fair review.

Whether the problems are ours or it is those close to us who are suffering, trials abound. One of the greatest challenges comes when others are suffering, and we desire to help in some way but feel paralyzed, not knowing how.Just Show Up is a touching tribute to the relationships between Kara and her friends who walked through her hard with her. But more than that, it is a raw, honest look at what it means to bear one another's burdens. Showing up means more than bringing a meal, although that is helpful. There are many ways to show up for a friend in need. What if we're not good at that? What do we say? How do we deal with our own insecurity? Just Show Up digs into these questions and more, offering perspectives from both the one suffering and the one wanting to ease the pain. This is a beautiful picture of what community and showing up could look like if we were willing to be there for another, and if the one going through the hard time was willing to let others in. Each struggle will look different, and the community that surrounded Kara may not be possible in every situation. Just Show Up is an inspiring glimpse, and an encouragement, for each of us as we walk through life with others and attempt to be His hands and feet.(I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The thoughts expressed here are entirely my own.)

Cole Friendships are so very important in my life. As I look back through the years I can see the impact many friendships have made in my day to day life as well as my heart.Reading Just Show Up by Kara Tippetts and Jill Buteyn reminded me why it is so important to make friendships a priority in our lives as women. Kara and Jill were friends for only 6 months when Kara was diagnosed with cancer. At that point, Jill decided to be all in with Kara despite the early stages of their friendship. This is a very serious book, a very serious topic, but the writers write a beautiful story that is more encouraging than discouraging. I thought when I signed up for this book that it was all about being a good friend - showing up, being there when your friend needed you. This book is so much more than that!!Since both authors share their thoughts in each chapter you get a perspective into the one who is being the care-giving friend as well as the one receiving the care. This was very eye opening for me, to hear how Kara had to learn to ask for help and let others help her, but also how Jill had to figure out how to really do more than make offers of help. This book shows how when we show up we offer more than a meal or a house cleaning, we offer our hearts. At this point in my life I have two very close friends walking through terminal illnesses with super close friends - and it is hard. Even though it is not me doing the actual walking through this, my heart breaks for both of myf fiends. I cannot imagine walking through it with someone in my life, but it daily reminds me how fragile this life is. I am constantly reminded to not take other people for granted, and I try to remember to make priorities for people. In the end, the relationships we make here on Earth are one of the few things that is eternal.I really do recommend this book, it is a hard topic, but handles so beautifully. Jill shows us how to love a friend no matter how much it may shatter our hearts. Jill shows us how to love someone going through something really hard, and seeing how God will hold us up and encourage us through that.NOTE : I received a copy of Just Show Up in exchange for an honest review.

The 2005 Charleston Southern University football team was poised for their best season in school history. The Buccaneers earned a school-best 5-5 record in their preceding season. It was the first time the program had achieved a non-losing status. At feat with which everyone on campus was satisfied. Everyone, that is, except the team. A gap no less than 100 football fields stands between non-losing and winning. The endless buckets of sweat and the occasional splatter of blood were never shed for non-losing seasons. Those were for wins. The early morning runs and the sacrifice of a “normal college experience” wasn’t for mediocrity, they were for greatness. This unrest is what fueled us during the program’s most important offseason. We were stacked with offensive weapons and defensive playmakers. Emerging leaders like Eddie Gadson pushed the team to improve during 5:30 a.m. workouts and player-led practices throughout the spring. Our attitude blurred between cocky and confident. But that all changed when tragedy struck a few short weeks before the season was slated to begin. Our worlds were shocked and a wound was delivered to us like we had never experienced. As pride morphed to humility, our confidence gave way to something bigger: the ability to believe. The ability to believe in each other. The ability to believe that a football team can provide healing. The ability to believe, against all odds, that the last place team in the conference could have a chance to play for a championship. The ability to believe in something bigger than ourselves. This is the story of the 2005 CSU Bucs. This is how we learned to believe.

From the Author "One of my goals in life has been to write the book I've always wanted to read. The story of the 2005 Buccaneer football team is one of the greatest sports stories never told. All of my writing, from the blog to my short ebook 'Giving 2 Gain' has been in preparation for the release of Believe EG21 in the fall of 2015. It has been my privilege to write this book, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I've enjoyed creating it."

From the Inside Flap "This inspiring story is a must read for anyone searching for insight in overcoming challenges and disappointments. The story of the 2005 team and what they learned will positively impact your life." - Dr. Jairy C. Hunter, Charleston Southern University President  "The journey of that year had many ups and downs, but was navigated beautifully by the coaching staff and the team. The story needs to be told because of the impact it had on the university, the football program, the Gadsons and most importantly how Jesus Christ was at the center." Coach Jamey Chadwell, Charleston Southern University Head Football Coach "In more than 24 years of playing and coaching football, there still isn't a memory of mine that remotely comes close to that of the 2005 season. Through the tragic loss of a teammate, to the ultimate gain and redemption of a team, this is a story that needs to be discovered by the sports world."  - Collin Drafts, Charleston Southern University Quarterback, 2003-2006

About the Author Mike McCann played football at Charleston Southern University from 2004-2008, graduating in 2007 with a BA in Business Management and again in 2011 with his MBA. He is a writer, entrepreneur, coach, and philanthropist residing in Charleston, SC.

A story about how hard work and never ending faith prevails in the end By Mark S The 2005 CSU Buccaneers were in last place in the conference but worked hard through tragedy; an entertaining and emotional read chronicling the teams perseverance, hard work and never ending faith that led them to honor a fallen teammate in the most amazing way possible - to go on to play for the championship and ultimately win! A great read for football fans and non-sports fans alike that proves that faith in the face of adversity and heartache will always prevail. A heart-wrenching tribute, powerful message and entertaining football journey wrapped up in one enjoyable read.

The author does an amazing job of articulating what it truly means to be a part of something bigger than oneself. The story that transpires from tragedy to triumph is remarkable. I literally could not put it down. I would recommend this book to any of the "true sports fans" out there. This is a must read!!!

By Amazon Customer Mike McCann told the story of a football team, but he also told the story of an athletic department, a university, and a community. Although not a football player, I lived that story in so many ways, being a student-athlete going through similar routines, sharing dorms with two starting defensive players, being friend with so many other team members, and most importantly jumping that fence to run on the field and celebrate with everyone. All that said, I firmly want to believe the beauty of this book lies on the fact that it doesn't matter whether or not you attended CSU, knew the players, or lived any part of it. It doesn't even matter whether or not you like or understand football. This book is just a real tribute to a great player in Eddie Gadson, his family, and his brothers! Congratulations Mike. Once again, your humility and genuine personality are evident in this work!

Greta Cerretti, classe '75, è psicologa e psicoterapeuta, specializzata in Addictive Behaviours.
